Gem, you wrote so nicely about your diagnosis and what you hope to accomplish.  I cannot say I know how YOU feel, but I know how I felt so many years ago when my nephew was diagnosed with bi-polar disease.  An uphill struggle for him then and sometimes now, but we've all managed to find our way through in support as he wants and needs it.  Prayers, good thoughts and good luck your way.  ;)

I got you letter today.  You are brave & strong, Gem.  Much more so than you think.  Reading you is privilege, never an imposition.
< is looking forward to more letters ;-) ~Mary

I don't have Bi-Polar.....but I do know about struggling against being suicidal and depression. I lost the last of my hearing 3 years ago this Jan. I struggle constantly with self worth living in a world of silence. I've overcome domestic abuse, as well as numerous other things in my life. I hear you loud and clear. I'm an email away if you ever want to write. I'm looking forward to building this newfound friendship. Mary is also a very good friend of mine.  Stay safe and loved! (Hugs) Indigo

Gem,
As ever, I'm here should you want to talk.  As someone who suffers from unipolar depression, I sort of understand what you're going through.  I can only wish strength for you.  It's hard, it can't be cured, but it can be fought, with friends, family, and your phriendly pharmacist all on your side.

Gem- this is the first time i have read your journal, i am new to j-land. i was struck, immediately, by the the picture of you with your child. how lovingly you are looking at him! he is a very lucky boy.

as i read about you, this also struck me, "We are ALL human beings with one common needs: To be accepted for who we are and not for what we have." bipolar or no bipolar.....this is so true for all, (everyone *I* know, anyways. lol) good luck with this new path you have found yourself on. knowing what the cause is, i hope you are now able to find something that relieves the dark thoughts you talk about having at times. your pictures and words simply shine beauty. i am looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello Gem

I was just on the AIM page and saw that you had a recent entry...so I clicked and here you are!

I just started journaling Sept. 11 and find myself addicted to reading others journal...mine's just a cathartic.

I do not happen to have bi-Polar disorder, I have many friends and some realitives that do.  I applaud your frankness and truly find you find a support system with in these pages.

I love the "AOL Alerts" also....I just found out last night that I can recieve an alert when people post and entry (I already knew I could recieve an alert when a comment was posted in my Journal).  I wondor what else I don't know?

We need some pics posted of your little baby  :  )  I use the AOL pics to download and  paste the html to the entry page....it's fun.  Another way is to use "SmileBox".   Just an idea!

Take care of you!   ~Bethe~
