TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING
THROUGH THE DESERT.
DURING SOME POINT OF THE
JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN
ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND
SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE
IN THE FACE.

SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED
WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT
SAYING ANYTHING,
WROTE IN THE SAND:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
THEY KEPT ON WALKING,
UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS,
WHERE THEY DECIDED
TO TAKE A BATH
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN
SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE
MUD AND STARTED DROWNING,
BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM
THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:
"TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SAVED MY LIFE ".
THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED
AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND
ASKED HIM, "AFTER I HURT YOU,
YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW,
YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?"
THE FRIEND REPLIED
"WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US
WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN
IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF
FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES
SOMETHING GOOD FOR US,
WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE
WHERE NO WIND
CAN EVER ERASE IT."

YOUR HURTS IN
THE SAND AND TO
CARVE YOUR
BENEFITS IN STONE.

Oh, just beautiful Gem.
Wow.. That is a good lesson to remember! Have a great weekend! Julie :)
Or, just pick up the rock and hit the one who slapped you! LOL!
Actually, this was very nice and something to remember.
Nice sentiments....though sometimes I can agree with Mort!
Nancy

It is easier said than done.......but it is wise to view things this way. Better to be slapped in the face, than to drown in the mud...And it's better to see the good that people do unto us than the bad, that's for sure.
((hugs))

Very nice... I have read this before...
Been away and I am trying to catch up...

Thank you Gem, I always enjoyed this tale of wisdom. Yet I think it only fair to remember that water carved out the rock of the Grand Canyon. Water can erode stone, so I'd think perhaps stone it is as changeable and malleable as sand. Whether that means a darn thing I've no idea, but thanks for the post! xoxo CATHY
